30 June 1996 We're investigating the production of the Screamer in kit form. Buy the molded hull, deck, keel & rudder assemble it yourself (its easy) then select the rig that best suits your needs. The rigs range from the original issue 7/8ths, 40' I to a Towering 55' 3/4 all carbon rig... maximum horsepower. Check out the pics of the original boat and the drawings of the new rig options, then e-mail us if your interested. We're anticipating a very attractive kit price.
The Screamer (named for a certain child's cry) was dreamed up in 1981 and put into production in 1983. Over the next few years 12 of these speedsters were built. They were raced here & there, rating a solid -some in PHRF, and daysailed alot. Being 1983, bulb keels were not the thing to have and as such the original bulb was a "camoflauged" bulb, hardly resembling what is now considered typical. The orginal bulb has since been rededisgned to a more modern, lower drag, shape. The keel itself is attached to the hull using a tongue & scabbard arrangement. This allows the hull to be lifted off of the keel by removing a couple of nuts. We used this sort of arrangement on our Open Class 60 "Imagine". It provides an easily removed keel as well as an extremely strong attachment method.
